OUR PURPOSE
The purpose of the Mobility Liberation Travel Fund is to provide the community with the gift of travel.
HOW WE DO IT
The Mobility Liberation Travel Fund aims to address transportation inequity by promoting and facilitating travel opportunities, thereby fostering a sense of liberation and working towards mitigating the adverse effects associated with constrained mobility. Emphasizing that mobility is a fundamental human right, this fund is dedicated to advancing mobility justice and healing justice.
WHY WE DO IT
Systemic structural racism has long hindered the ability of Black individuals to move freely and fearlessly, dating back to the times of slavery. This impact is evident in historical events such as the Fugitive Slave Act and Black Codes, as well as contemporary challenges like racial profiling in incidents like "driving while black." Limited resources have often confined individuals within their neighborhoods, restricting access to travel experiences. As a consequence of restricted mobility, there is an increased risk of mental health disparities and a host of other related issues.
